Synopsis: On 101608, at about 1330 hrs., Mendocino County Sheriff Deputies responded to the Albion River to meet Coast Guard and emergency medical personnel who were treating a diver that had become unresponsive. The diver, Paul Hartley, could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation revealed that Hartley was employed as a commercial urchin diver on the F/V Sunshine and was engaged in diving for urchins when he was found floating near the boat. The skipper of the vessel brought Hartley aboard the boat, summoned aid, and began CPR.
