Synopsis: Deputies from the Northern Operations sector of the Sheriff's office were called to the scene of a shooting on a remote parcel west of the Black Oak Ranch also known as the "Hog Farm" in Laytonville, Saturday Morning. On the deputies arrival they found a Hispanic male adult in the upstairs portion of a cabin. The subject was found deceased from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.
The Mendocino County Sheriff's detectives were called out and conducted an investigation into the shooting. Further investigation revealed that the victim and up to eight others were in the process of trimming and manicuring a large amount of marijuana grown at the location. Sometime during the late Friday or early Saturday morning hours there was a fight between several of the subjects. The shooting was a result of the fight.
Saturday morning the renter of the property contacted law enforcement and reported the shooting. After interviews were conducted it was revealed that the shooting was reported to the renter by telephone after all the subject had fled. Detectives were able to learn some of the names of involved parties. The case remains under investigation and the deceased was transported to Ukiah where a forensic autopsy will be conducted. The victim has not been identified at this time.
A large quantity of drying marijuana along with 25 large marijuana plants were seized at the scene. There was evidence of a large quantity of processed marijuana had been removed prior to the arrival of law enforcement. It appeared that there were approximately forty marijuana plants that had been cut.

The Mendocino County Sheriff's department is asking anyone with knowledge or information of this incident to contact the Sheriffs Detective Division at (707)467-5159
