| Synopsis: | 10-27-08/2330 hours the FORT BRAGG POLICE Department received a missing Person report on Rudi WUENNENBERG. WUENNENBERG was traveling from the Crescent City area to his part time home in Fort Bragg. Family members reported WUENNENBERG was overdue for his arrival. 10-28-08/1400 hours after learning that WUENNENBERG had used a credit card in Willits the FT. BRAGG PD requested assistance from the MENDOCINO COUNTY SHERIFF"S OFFICE to search the Highway 20 area between Willits and FT Bragg. A land search was initiated immediately utilizing MENDOCINO COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPUITES and CAL FIRE PREVENTION OFFICERS. WUENNENBERG and his vehicle could not be found. 10-29-08/0900 hours at the request of MCSO CAL FIRE air units conducted a air search on Highway 20 and located WUENNENBERG'S vehicle off the highway at approximately MM 23. Emergency units including the MCSO, CHP and CALFIRE responded to the scene finding WUENNENBERG deceased in his vehicle. The traffic accident is being investigated by CHP and the cause of WUNENNBERG'S death is being investigated by MCSO. MR. WUNNENNBERG'S family has been notified. |
