| Synopsis: | On 11/24/08 members of the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office along with agents from the Mendocino County Major Crimes Task Force were in the 3000 block of Primrose Dr in Willits to serve a search warrant. Once at location Sheriff's Deputies located Christopher and Jennifer Kates and their two small children. The residence had an indoor marijuana growing operation in which 136 plants were seized and evidence of marijuana sales. Also 7 firearms were located and also seized. Further investigation revealed that Kates admitted to selling marijuana and that he had no medical reason or recommendations for the illegal marijuana grow. Child Protective Services were called and removed the two small children from the residence. Both Christopher and Jennifer Kates were placed under arrest for cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sales and being armed while in the commission of a felony. Christopher and Jennifer were transported to the Mendocino County Jail where Christopher is being held on 75,000.00 dollar bail and Jennifer on 25,000.00 dollar bail. |
