| Synopsis: | On 12-01-08 at approximately 2028 hours, a south coast sheriff's deputy was dispatched to the listed location regarding an out of control male. The reporting person, Reeby Bean, told Sheriff's Office Dispatch that she needed help because her son, Matthew Bean was being uncooperative with her. Reeby informed Sheriff's Office Dispatch that Matthew also had a warrant for his arrest. Upon arrival at the scene, the sheriff's deputy made contact with and attempted to speak with Matthew about his reported behavior without success. Matthew, who stood with one of his hands concealed behind his back, failed to comply with the deputy after verbal order was given that he was being placed under arrest for the confirmed warrant. After further failed efforts to gain Matthew's compliance, Matthew charged the deputy wielding, what was later identified as a pair of metal pruning shears, at the deputy's upper body. A physical struggle ensued that lasted approximately 6-minutes, during which the deputy would be continually interrupted by other family members when attempting to restrain Matthew. Matthew was eventually restrained and arrested. Reeby, who also physically engaged the deputy during the struggle to aid Matthew, was arrested. Both subjects were transported to the Mendocino County Jail with a bail set for Matthew at $15,000.00 and $7,500.00 for Reeby. |
