| Synopsis: | On 12-8-08 at 0800 Hrs The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office was contacted by officials from Ukiah High School regarding a physical fight in which gunshots were fired during a confrontation at a party over the weekend. Upon arrival, school security advised of a fight that occurred in the Redwood Valley area on Saturday 12/6/08. During the physical altercation it was reported that one of the subjects involved in the fight pulled a firearm and shot twice. Further investigation revealed that numerous subjects were at a party in the area of Uva Dr. The suspect and friends left the party and were followed by two vehicles with numerous juveniles inside, to the 1900 Block of Foothill Dr in Redwood Valley. Once at location the two vehicles blocked the driveway and one of the juveniles jumped from the vehicle and ran at the truck carrying the suspect and friends. The suspect got out of the truck and was struck numerous times by the male juvenile (victim) who had charged towards his truck. The suspect at this time pulled a pistol out and shot two times towards the male juvenile (victim). The male juvenile and up to 6-8 other subjects fled the location in 2 vehicles. Evidence at the scene did verify that shots had been fired at location. The male juvenile suspect was located at his residence and placed under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon, discharge of a firearm in a grossly negligent manner, and possession of a concealed weapon. The male juvenile suspect was transported and booked into Juvenile Hall. Charges are also being requested for the male juvenile (victim) for assault and battery on the suspect of the shooting. |
