| Synopsis: | On 01/06/09 at approximately 9:00 am Deputies from the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office were summoned to the Round Valley Elementary School regarding a burglary that had been discovered that morning. Deputies arrived and found two class rooms had been broken into some time the previous evening. Deputies found lap top computers had been stolen from the class rooms. Further investigation revealed two juveniles, ages 13 and 14 had been seen at the school the previous evening. Deputies located the juveniles and subsequently received statements regarding the crimes. The juveniles confessed to the burglaries and deputies were able to locate the stolen property, a portion of which was hidden at the school while the rest was located in a residence within the Covelo area. While investigating this crime, Deputies learned the juveniles had also been involved in a separate burglary of Keith's Family Food center on 01/05/09 where the two juveniles, along with a third fifteen year old male had entered the store and stolen alcoholic beverages from the store. Deputies responded to Keith's Family Food center where they reviewed surveillance media, which depicted the three youths, enter and steal alcoholic beverage. The youths were taken into custody and later released to parents with juvenile citations, a case has been filed with the Mendocino County Juvenile Probation Department for prosecutions of these crimes. |
