| Synopsis: | 01/10/2009 shortly after midnight Mendocino County Sheriff Deputies were on patrol near the north end of Uva Drive, Redwood Valley when a vehicle was spotted leaving the area of the river off a private driveway. The area had recently been the site of large juvenile gatherings. The deputy stopped his patrol car and attempted to contact the driver of the suspect vehicle on foot when he sped off turning north on Uva Drive. The deputy attempted to catch the vehicle and it turned onto Laughlin Way where the deputy lost site of the suspect vehicle. A short while later another deputy was in the area of West Road and Ellen Lynn Road when he located the Suspect vehicle. The driver again waited until the deputy was getting out of his vehicle and fled north on West Road at a high rate of speed. The deputy chasing the suspect reached speeds of one hundred miles per hour and at this point it became to dangerous to continue. The suspect vehicle was last seen travelling north on West Road. The same evening, information was received possibly identifying the suspect and vehicle. Deputies went to the area of Cave Creek Road, Redwood Valley. They located the Toyota Tundra pickup involved in the pursuits and identified the 19 year old suspect. A search Warrant was prepared and served. During the service of the warrant Deputies identified Travis Steven Bell as the driver of the vehicle. After being shown photos of the pursuit Bell admitted to being the driver of the Toyota and admitted fleeing from the officers. Bell was booked into the Mendocino County Jail on the listed charges. |
