Synopsis: On 01-01-11, Mendocino County Sheriff's Deputies received a report from the Fresno Police Department regarding a domestic violence incident that occurred at 24100 Howard Creek Road on 12-28-10 at approximately 2000 hours.

Deputies initiated an investigation and learned from the victim that she had been in a verbal argument with the suspect [Barry Kulmann] at their Westport home at that date and time. The argument escalated into Kulmann throwing a blunt object at and which struck the victim in the arm. Kulmann then threw the victim to the ground and struck her several times in the face with his hand and repeatedly banged her head against the floor while grabbing hold of her hair.

During the physical assault, the victim managed to stand to her feet, at which time Kulmann grabbed the victim by the head and attempted to force his thumbs into the victim's eyes, which the victim believed was an effort to blind her. The victim managed to break free from the suspect and fled the location.

The victim sustained minor visible injuries and possible internal head trauma.

On 01-01-11 at approximately 1930 hours, deputies arrived at Kulmann's residence and arrested him without incident. Kulmann was transported to and lodged at the Mendocino County Jail where he was booked on the listed charges. His bail is set at $50,000.00.
