Synopsis: On 01-06-11, at 2053 hours, Mendocino County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to 271 Davidson Lane in Laytonville concerning an argument between Sean Malcolm and his girlfriend.

Malcolm reported that his girlfriend had accused him of stealing her purse and that she had threatened him with a knife. Malcolm told deputies that he disarmed his girlfriend and in the process received a small laceration to the web of his hand. Malcolm stated he was not afraid of his girlfriend and at no time felt that he was in any danger.

According to Malcolm, his girlfriend then left their residence, but returned a short time later with two of her friends. The girlfriend and her friends attempted to find the missing purse without success. During the search of the purse Malcolm stated he was threatened by one of his girlfriend's friends.

Deputies spoke with the girlfriend who stated she believed Malcolm had stolen her purse. When she confronted him about the theft Malcolm became angry and pushed the girlfriend down. The girlfriend was afraid of Malcolm so she brandished a knife. Malcolm took the knife away from her and in the process cut the web of his hand.

During the investigation Malcolm, who was on active formal probation with a no alcohol clause, was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Malcolm was arrested for the probation violation and transported to the county jail.

Additional charges have been submitted to the District Attorney's Office for review.
