Synopsis: On 8-26-2012 at about 2000 hours a Mendocino County Sheriffs Deputy conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle in the area of North Highway 101 and Bell Springs Road.

As the Deputy contacted the subjects in the vehicle, he was able to detect a strong odor of marijuana coming from within the interior of the vehicle. While questioning the occupants of the vehicle, they indicated that they had a legal right to possess marijuana, but they were unable to provide any documentation supporting their assertion. The driver of the vehicle, Suspect Anthony Purdy (of Chico) admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle at which time he gave the deputy a small plastic bag containing approximately 3 grams of processed marijuana.

In a subsequent search of the vehicle, the deputy located an additional 108 grams of processed and packaged marijuana hidden in the vehicle. The deputy also located over $4800 in United States Currency in mixed bills.

Suspect Anthony Purdy was arrested for transporting, possession for sales and furnishing marijuana. He was transported to the Mendocino County jail where he is currently being held on $15,000.00 bail. In addition, the cash located in the vehicle was seized as evidence of illegal drug activity.
