Synopsis: On 11-27-2012 at approximately 0930 hours, a Deputy Sheriff from the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to contact Round Valley Tribal Police Chief Carlos Rabano.

Upon contact Chief Rabano reported he had been on routine patrol when he saw the 68-year-old victim walking in the 23000 block of Howard Street. Upon contacting the victim Chief Rabano noticed the victim had a bleeding wound to his head and bruising to his arms.

During questioning the victim reported he had been physically assaulted by his son, Michael David Arnold, at approximately 0815 hours.

A short time later, Michael David Arnold arrived and told the victim to tell Chief Rabano that he had sustained the injuries as the result of a fall. The victim changed his story as instructed.

The victim was later transported to Howard Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries and he was contacted by the Deputy Sheriff.

During the interview the victim disclosed he was inside of his residence making coffee when he was physically assaulted by Michael David Arnold without warning.

During the incident the victim was hit several times with a garden hose attachment described as a water wand (rounded pipe). The victim sustained blunt force injuries to his head, back, shoulder, legs and left arm.

After being physically assaulted the victim left his residence and was later contacted by Chief Rabano. The victim indentified Michael David Arnold as being his caregiver and that the pair lived together at the victim's Howard Street residence.

The Deputy Sheriff responded to the victim's residence where Michael David Arnold was contacted. During the contact the water wand was located and the Deputy Sheriff noticed it contained evidence to support the victim's statements as to how he sustained his injuries (suspected blood and damage to wand).

Michael David Arnold was arrested on the listed charges and booked into the Mendocino County Jail in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.
