Synopsis: On 02/20/2013 at approximately 2300 hours Deputies from the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office were on routine patrol in the area of the 1400 block of Lovers Lane in Ukiah when they saw a male subject riding a bike with no lights.

The Deputies stopped the male subject, later identified as Robert Kevin Gardner. The Deputies recognized Gardner and knew he was on formal probation in Mendocino County.

The Deputies conducted a probation search of Gardner and located a large 6-inch knife hidden in his pants. Gardner was immediately arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon (knife) and for violation of his probation terms.

As the Deputies continued their investigation they noticed Gardner was showing signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). Gardner was evaluated and then charged with being under the influence.

Deputies found burglary tools in Gardner's possession as well as an approximate .2 gram bag of suspected methamphetamine he had thrown on the ground, as he was being contacted by the Deputies.

Gardner was arrested for the above listed charges, transported and booked into the Mendocino County Jail.

While at the County Jail Deputies learned Gardner had previously been released on bail for an unrelated crime. Gardner was then charged with committing a felony while out on bail.

Gardner's bail was set at a no bail status because of the violation of probation charge.
