Synopsis: On 03/03/2013 at approximately 1500 hours Mendocino County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to the 31000 block of Pudding Creek Road for a 3-year old child found walking alone in the neighborhood.

Deputies located the child’s mother, Carol Jewett, at her residence located in the general area. Jewett told Deputies that she did not know where her child was but knew that her child had ventured off the property.

Jewett and her child were reunited and Deputies ultimately referred the situation to Child Protective Services.

At approximately 1830 hours the same date, Deputies were dispatched to the area of Pudding Creek Road and Bald Hill Road regarding a 3-year old child found walking in the roadway.

Upon arrival, Deputies discovered that the child was the same child found earlier in the day. The child was taken into protective custody at the scene by Child Protective Services.

Deputies believed the child was in serious danger walking alone in the roadway due to the darkness and that vehicles often travel at an excessive rate of speed on that specific section of the roadway.

Deputies made contact with Jewett and ultimately arrested her for the listed charge. Jewett was transported to the Mendocino County Jail where she was booked and was to be held in lieu of $25,000.00 bail.
