Synopsis: On 05/20/13 at about 1400 hours Deputies from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office were contacted by Round Valley Tribal Police regarding a stolen camp trailer in the Covelo area.

Deputies responded to the Covelo area where they met with the victim of the theft. The victim advised she had a camp trailer parked on a piece of property in the Covelo area. She was called by a family friend who advised she was watching a male adult remove the trailer from the property with a vehicle.

The witness followed the suspect and the camp trailer to a residence located in the 23000 block of Hopper Lane in Covelo.

The witness advised the trailer had been taken by Manual Rodriguez. Deputies were aware of Rodriguez’s residence and responded to the location.

Rodriguez was currently facing previous charges of receiving stolen property and had been released from custody on his own signed recognizance the previous week.

Upon arrival Deputies located the stolen trailer in the yard alongside the residence. While at the residence Deputies contacted and detained Rodriguez.

Further investigation revealed portions of the trailer had been altered to include painting over various stickers and identifiable markings which had been placed on the trailer by the owners.

Rodriguez was arrested and booked into the Mendocino County Jail on charges of vehicle theft, and committing a felony offense while released on his own signed recognizance related to a pending court case.

Rodriguez was to be held in the Mendocino County Jail in lieu of $30,000.00 bail.
