Synopsis: On 04-01-2014 at 4:33 AM the Ukiah Police Department received a 911 emergency phone call from the pay phone at the entrance to the Ukiah Airport in Ukiah, California.

The caller advised he had been physically assaulted and stabbed. On arrival Ukiah Police learned the crime had occurred in the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction.

Sheriff's Deputies responded to Ukiah Valley Medical Center and contacted the 23-year old male adult victim.

The victim advised he was walking in the area of Laws Avenue and South State Street when he was confronted by another male adult who struck him in the head knocking him to the ground. The suspect took the victim’s sweatshirt which also contained two electronic devices in the pockets.

The victim advised after the suspect fled on foot he then found he had been stabbed twice in the upper body by a knife he observed in the suspect’s hand during the incident.

The victim was transferred to a Sonoma County area hospital for further treatment but was expected to recovery from his injuries.

Mendocino County Sheriff's Detectives are continuing the investigation and attempting to identify the unknown suspect.

The suspect was described as being a light skinned Hispanic or White male, having a small tattoo near the right eye and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
